Taapsee Pannu is on a roll. After being highly praised for her performance in Game Over, the actor might be gearing up for a sports biopic. Previously, Taapsee has essayed the role of a hockey player in Shaad Ali’s Soorma, based on the life of Sandeep Singh, India’s former captain.

This time, the biopic will be on the life of cricketer Mithali Raj, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team in One Day Internationals (ODIs), Mumbai Mirror reported.

Since Viacom18 had announced the project in 2017, it has generated a lot of interest. “Taapsee has verbally agreed to do the film, but she is yet to sign the papers. Once a director comes on board, the formalities will be completed. As of now, the script is being developed”, a source told Mumbai Mirror.

Mithali Raj is the highest run-scorer in international women’s cricket, and the only women cricketer to surpass the 6,000-run mark in WODIs. In June 2018, during the Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup, she became the leading run-getter for India (either male or female) in T20is. Last week, Mithali completed 20 years in International Cricket.

Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu has wrapped up shoot for Saand ki Aankh with Bhumi Pednekar.
